Named the best diet of 2021, the Mediterranean diet is more than just that — it’s a way of life. It’s about more than just eating fresh, wholesome dishes; the diet encourages activity, sharing meals with loved ones, and learning about and enjoying the healthy food that goes into your body.

Here at Aladdin’s, we’re proud to bring you the savory flavors of the Mediterranean all while sharing the cultural aspects that truly make all the difference.

First thing’s first: what makes the Mediterranean diet so special anyway?

According to Everyday Health, the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle may help reduce risk for heart disease, strokes, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. The healthy foods consumed through this diet are also known to help with weight loss and can even help ease depression.

To reap the benefits of the Mediterranean diet, one must remember that it is more than just what we eat; it’s how we eat.

Here are our six tips for a healthy diet and lifestyle, inspired by the Mediterranean diet:

Eat Smart.

The Mediterranean diet encourages us to limit added sugar, sodium, highly-processed foods, refined carbs, and saturated fats.

Inspired by the traditional foods of Lebanon, our menu promotes just that. Whether it’s a warm bowl of lentil soup, a fresh cranberry walnut salad, or a delicious grilled yellowfin tuna steak in a rolled pita, our menu will introduce you to new, healthy favorites.

Eat Fresh.

Veggies, veggies, and more veggies. That’s right; everything on our menu comes with the fresh, colorful, and local vegetables, from beans to eggplants, tomatoes to turnips, we can promise that you will get your desired vegetable serving with each meal.

Eat Mindfully.

We encourage guests to sit down, be it at home or in our dining rooms, and focus on their meals. Chew slowly, enjoy every bite.

Take your time savoring each bite of hummus. Slowly sip your smoothie and taste every fresh fruit and vegetable inside. Be mindful of what you’re putting in your body and know that it is doing its job to keep you healthy.

Share Meals With Loved Ones.

Be it your mom, partner, dog, or best friend, sharing mealtime with those you love makes for a happier, more enjoyable dining experience.

Conversations also cause us to eat slower, making sure we don’t over-indulge or devour your food too quickly.

Be More Active, Naturally.

This one goes outside of the restaurant and into your daily life. We encourage our employees and guests alike to find simple ways to be more active throughout each day. Garden, take an afternoon stroll, ride a bike.

Even simple things such as parking farther away in the lot can have many benefits to your health, both mentally and physically.

Enjoy Life.

Treat yourself. Get that piece of cheesecake you’ve been eyeballing. Call your mom. Get some fresh air. Whatever makes you smile, do it. Life is too short to be anything but happy.
